Description Non-regulation Militia Staff Officer's Sword, 1840-1860; straight double-edged blade with single fuller etched with floral sprays, shield, and sun burst; brass cruciform hilt with langets which extend over blade and into grip, decorated with foliage and geometric designs, quillons terminate in floral buds; chain knuckle bow missing; eagle holding shield pommel; incised bone grip. Brass scabbard (.87a) engraved with floral sprays, eagle holding shield; two suspension rings on top mount and one on lower mount.
