Object Name Ring, Finger
Catalog Number 0985.08.00038
Date 1864
Description Ring made of gutta-percha in a signet style. The central signet is square, with a piece of rounded silver on one side, like a frame; as there are two prongs on the other side, the second half of the silver frame seems to be missing. There is nothing in the center of this signet; it is unknown if it has always been blank, or if a center design has become detached. It has two inlaid silver shields, one on either side of the central signet. On either side of the central signet are carvings of branches. The ring itself is fashioned from three stacked portions of evenly-sized gutta percha; possibly made from three buttons, with metal inlay between each stack.
