Event Battle of Bristoe Station
Provenance 2nd Lt. Thomas Lawson Barraud, of Company C, 16th Virginia Infantry, wore this sash. He was wounded during the Second Battle of Manassas on August 30, 1862 and admitted on September 12 to Charlottesville General Hospital. He deserted from the hospital without a regular discharge and returned to duty with his unit on January 3, 1863. Barraud was mortally wounded at Bristoe Station on October 14, 1863 and died the next day.
