Description Model 1850 U.S. Staff and Field Officer's Sword: slightly curved single-edged blade with two fullers, etched with floral sprays, military trophies, eagle and "US", obverse ricasso etched "W / Clauberg / Solingen", surrounding standing knight, reverse ricasso etched "Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, New York", back of blade etched "Iron Proof,"; hilt of gilded brass consisting of two branches filled with pierced floral designs and the letters "US"; knuckle bow pierced for sword knot near pommel, pommel decorated with floral spray on the forward edge , wood grips covered in shagreen and wound in twisted wire. Metal scabbard (.34a) with brass mounts.
