Object Name SLIPPER
Catalog Number 0985.13.00506a
Date ca. 1850
Description One of a pair (2) of slippers, women's. Made of white kid leather with one-piece soles and small heels. The heels are applied externally to the soles; appears to be glued, but given the nature of period glue, would almost have had to be sewn (it is typical for the stitch channel to be obscured). The upper is white finished kid leather with a paper insole and white cotton lining. The heel is an eighth inch high. The manufacturer's label is on the shoe and reads, "McIntosh & White / Makers / No. 18 S. 4th St. / Phila."
