Description Ninth-plate ambrotype with applied color of a woman seated, facing camera, looking at camera, dark hair parted in middle and smoothed around ears, cheeks and lips tinted pink; large earrings tinted gold, large whitework collar that does not meet at center front of neck, round brooch, tinted gold, pinned to bodice between collar ends, dark bodice with a black, possibly lace, bretelle extending from upper arms across chest, corseted waist possibly with a belt, belt buckle or brooch pinned at center tinted gold, wide pagoda sleeves with wide black lace edging, full skirt with cartridge pleats, hands resting in lap;
Oval-style gilt mat with scroll motif embossing, double preserver, dark green velvet pad with foliate motif embossing, brown thermoplastic case with raised flower, foliate and fleur-de-lis motif; brass clasp intact, brass hinges;
