Description Ninth-plate tintype with applied color; bust shot, man turned 3/4 to the right with head turned left and looking at camera, slouch hat, hair clipped short above ears, cheeks tinted pink, very thin moustache and close-shaven beard with patch of hair under bottom lip, single-breasted shell jacket with standing collar, four buttons visible, tinted gold; oval-style metal mat embossed with scrollwork, preserver stamped with simple geometric design; case is leather-covered wood embossed on reverse with simple geometric design; obverse [cover] section of case is missing; brass latch missing;
