Description Sixth-plate ambrotype with area tinting; woman seated, facing camera, looking at camera, hair parted down the middle and pulled well back behind the ears and softly rounded out, cheeks possibly tinted pink, oval, off-the-shoulder neckline, wide, short sleeves, left elbow on table covered with a decorative cloth, table legs visible, left hand up by the head and the head leaning to the left and gently posed on the fingers, right hand holding the neck of a guitar at the top, headstock pointing to the right, body of the guitar resting in her lap, dress skirts ballooned out and tips of ladderback chair visible behind her shoulders; non-pareil gilt mat with edging, preserver is stamped with simple foliate pattern; obverse interior section of case lined in red felt pad with foliate design; case is leather-covered wood, both obverse and reverse exterior coverse embossed with foliate and geometric design; obverse and reverse case sections detached from each other; brass latch and eye in tact;
