Model 1850 U.S. Staff and Field Officer's Sword: slightly curved single-edged blade with two fullers, etched with floral sprays, military trophies, eagle and "US", obverse ricasso etched "W / Clauberg / Solingen", surrounding standing knight, reverse ricasso etched "Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, New York", back of blade etched "Iron Proof,"; hilt of gilded brass consisting of two branches filled with pierced floral designs and the letters "US"; knuckle bow pierced for sword knot near pommel, pommel decorated with floral spray on the forward edge , wood grips covered in shagreen and wound in twisted wire. Metal scabbard (.34a) with brass mounts.

Non-regulation Militia Officers Sword (diplomatic style): straight blade with triangular cross section, etched with floral sprays and military trophies; brass ovoid guard cast with stand of ancient arms, stars and rosettes;quillon terminates in disc decorated with rosette; flat knuckle bow decorated with rosette and floral sprays; globular pommel with floral motifs and scroll work; mother of pearl grip wrapped in twisted brass wire. Leather scabbard (.74a) with silver (?) mounts and frog stud; scabbard in two pieces.

Spencer .52 caliber rimfire, serial number 45876. 22 inch barrel with six grooves, walnut butt and stock. Marked "SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS PTD MARCH 6, 1860".

Non-regulation Mounted Artillery Officer's Saber: curved blade with single broad fuller, etched with floral sprays, military trophies and crown and shield; plated brass hilt of two branches and knuckle bow flowing into bird's head pommel which extends into backstrap and metal ferrule, quillon terminates in disc and langets extend over blade; wooden grip covered in shagreen and twisted wire. Plated brass scabbard (.64a) with two suspension rings and steel drag.

Staff and Field Officer's Sword; slightly curved single-edged blade with two fullers etched with floral sprays, eagle, military trophies "U.S.", gilded brass hilt decorated with US eagle and shied, stand of flags, 12 five-pointed stars, pommel cap decorated with {mother of pearl?], forward end of pommel decorated with floral spray, top of pommel inset with mother of pearl oval carved with the letter "G", wooden grip covered in leather, wire wrap missing. Steel scabbard (.73b) with brass mounts; engraved on obverse scabbard between mounts "Lt. Col. O.C. Johnson 15th Wis Vols." reverse engraved "Taken at Chickamauga Sept. 20th 1863 / G.M. Sorrel Brig Gen Army Northern Va."

The surgical kit comes in a walnut case with brass corners and a yellow velvet interior. A nameplate with "U.S.A. / Hospt'l D'p't" engraved on it is attached on top of the case. A blue label on the bottom inside of the case reads, "V. W. BRINKERHOFF / MANUFACTURER OF / SURGICAL & DENTAL INSTRUMENTS, / MEDICINE CHESTS, SADDLE BAGS ETC. / 88 William St., N. Y." The contents of the case are as follows: amputation knife (a), metacarpal saw (b), tenaculum (c), tenon saw (d), bone forceps (e), and a piece of tobacco (f). Four instruments are missing.

HOUSEWIFE -

The roll-up style housewife consists of black leather with red silk edging and a blue silk liner. The liner has pockets of different color silks, and the bottom is padded for pins. Two flaps of white and green wool flannel are also attached to the liner.
