All flags are on dark yellow/brown flagstaff with finials and tassels. Painted on Ingres D'Arches paper (watermark in lower right corner.

PAINTING - CSS Armstrong

Oil on canvas painting of the CSS Armstrong. The portrait is of the vessel at sea flying the Third National pattern flag, the state flag of Georgia, and an Army of Northern Virginia style ensign. The flags appear to have been painted over what were originally simple pennants or signal flags. The painting is purported to have originally been of the SS (believed USS) Ella. Framed.

Impression, Seal -

The seal is a red wax impression bearing the marks "VICI JULY 31, 1861" in an oval around a First National flag pattern. The oval border is a belt. The seal is inside a round wooden case with threaded closure.

This deck of paper playing cards has a design (on the back of the card) of a First National flag and an Army of Northern Virginia flag crossed and surmounting a Confederate States of American Great Seal on a blue dotted background. The paper wrapping has portrait of an Arabic sheikh in blue.

This is a red silk taffetta tobacco pouch with a multi-colored embroidery: crossed flags, leaves, a Confederate shield, and initials "SBB". It also has a drawstring closure with a red silk cord and tassels (tassels are at the bottom). The pouch still holds wrapped pieces of tobacco.

Inscription above shield: "Pro Aris et Focis" ["For god and country", or literally "For our altars and our hearths"). Interlining: Believed cotton. Backing: Silk. Binding: Red silk. Stitching: Hand and machine.

U.S. Model 1858 tin smooth side canteen with steel spout, blue cover, and leather strap. The name "C. Palfrey, C.S.A." is cross-stitched in red thread on one side of the canteen, First National Confederate Flag is embroidered on the other; the same red thread surrounds the perimeter of the canteen, as though joining the front and back sides of the blue cover. The leather strap has a metal buckle. No stopper in spout.

The cup is carved from a coconut shell. It has a blackened finish and is ornately carved on the outside with a five-pointed star within a circle, two flags (one features a single star, the other is an Army of Northern Virginia battle flag), and other elements.

The handkerchief is white silk with a red border. Flags of the nations of the world are printed on the white background, including: the Confederate First National Confederate flag in the lower left corner, which is labeled on the handkerchief as "America - Confederate"; and the United States national flag in the lower right corner, which is labeled as "America - Federal". This handkerchief is associated with another white silk handkerchief (.6a) with portraits of Davis and his commanders on it.

Right shoe of a pair (2) of men's slippers consisting of leather outsole with a 1/2 inch wooden heel; black velvet upper lined with pink silk and a gold ribbon trim around the top; no toe box; stiff counter. The velvet upper contains green embroidered leaves and embroidered Second National pattern Confederate flags covering the toe. The outsole is attached with one peg at the waist and one at the toe. Men's size 8 or 9.

The roll-up style housewife (.204) consists of black waterproof canvas edged with blue silk ribbon. The housewife is lined with tan and beige striped silk and has three inner pockets made of silk that approximate the First National, Bonnie Blue, and Second National pattern Confederate flags. The larger end pocket holds a square, double-sided, red silk, blue wool, and paper needle case (.204a) with a pocket. Inside the needle case are a needle (.204b), white cotton thread wrapped around a red silk and paper skein (.204c), and a small folding knife (.204d) with a shell cover.
