The surgical kit comes in a walnut case with a brass nameplate on top of it. "R. G. Rothrock" is scratched on the nameplate. The interior is lined with brown velvet. A yellow label inside reads, "MANUFACTURED BY / HENRY SHIVELY / AT THE / Established Manufactory / Removed to No. 64 S. 8th St. / Below Chesnut / Philad'a." The contents of the case are as fellows: tenacula (a), two amputation knives (b, c), head saw (h), raspitory handle (j), two raspitory saw bits (k, l), short bristle brush (m), tourniquet (n), bone file (d), tongue depressor (f), artery probe (o), tenon saw (e), and metacarpal saw (i).

Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver, Type IV - .44 cal., 6-shot rebated cylinder, 8" round barrel, creeping style loading lever. Brass blade front sight, rear sight through v-notch in hammer. Casehardened frame, hammer, and loading lever; remainder blued. One piece walnut grip - chipped left side and dented right side, brass trigger guard and strap, steel backstrap. Bluing/Mottling +/- 95% worn. Scene depicting the Texas Navy's engagement of 16 May, 1843 is roll engraved on the cylinder - (barely visible).
