Model 1850 U.S. Foot Officer's Sword: slightly curved, single-edged blade with two fullers, blade etched with floral sprays and military trophies, eagle and "US"; gilded brass hilt with guard decorated with pierced design of floral sprays, knuckle bow pierced for sword knot near pommel which is decorated on forward edge with oak leaves; wood grip covered with shagreen and twisted wire. Leather scabbard (.63a) with brass mounts.

Uniform Frock coat: double breasted, 7 buttons in each row, butternut wool jean homespun cloth with buff twill wool broadcloth facings and piping, dark green wool and silk lining in body, white cotton sheeting lining in sleeves; gold embroidered general's collar insignia, gold sleeve braid, Federal staff buttons with backmarks:"EXTRA/QUALITY" and "HORSTMANN BROTHERS & CO./PHIL."

Trousers: butternut wool jean homespun, inner facings and pockets lined with cotton drill and sheeting, horn and bone buttons.

Vest of homespun brown wool and cotton cloth (jean) with standing collar, three pockets; back of light brown wool and cotton homespun without cinch belt, lining of brown wool and cotton cloth; nine button front, cuff size Federal Eagle enlisted man's buttons with no backmarks.

Uniform frock coat: double breasted, with seven buttons in each row, cadet gray wool kersey with buff wool broadcloth facings and piping, dark green wool and silk lining in body, white cotton sheeting lining in sleeves; embroidered gold general's collar insignia, gold sleeve braid, Federal staff buttons with backmarks, "EXTRA/QUALITY" and "SUPERIOR QUALITY."

The cane is made from a tree branch with a brass end cap. Written on the shaft in ink: "Spotsylvania C H May 12, 1864 Oct. 23, 1892."

Field drum; wooden shell with tack decoration around vent hole; tension rope and leather slides with copper rivets; snares missing.

Pipe of carved pear wood bowl including the motto "Sic Semper Tyrannis" State Seal of Virginia, cannons, cannon balls, and leaf designs; inscription: "Executed by J.W. Belote Jr. 1864 - Presented to Colonel W.F. Niemeyer by Lt. J.A. Gleason". Old museum state room sticker "27" adhered inside bowl.

Model 1840 U. S. Cavalry Saber: single-edged, curved blade with flat back and rudimentary false edge and two fullers; ricasso stamped with knights head, plaque braised onto blade "William R. Laws 3rd Reg. Va. Cavalry Killed in / Battle near Spotsylvania C.H. Va, May 6th 1864 Age 20 years", brass hilt with a knuckle bow and two branches flowing from an oval guard and terminating at the pommel; wood grip covered in remains of leather and wound in remains of twisted brass wire. No scabbard.

Piece of wood, roughly rectangular in shape, with lead bullet embedded in it. Written in ink on one side is, "1864." Written in ink on another side is, "Spotsylvania C House 64".

Uniform frock coat: double breasted, with 7 buttons in each row, steel gray wool broadcloth with buff wool broadcloth facings, no piping, dark green wool and silk lining in body, white cotton drill lining in sleeves, embroidered gold colonel's collar insignia edged in black, gold sleeve braid, buttons removed.

Colt Model 1860 type III, Army revolver, .44 caliber, 8 inch barrel; serial number 6230; stamped on barrel: "Address Col. Saml Colt New York U.S. America." Stamped on cylinder: "Patented Sept 10th 1850" and remains of standard naval engagement scene. Wood grips with "J.R.W." carved on obverse side and "1864" carved into reverse. Brass lanyard ring on butt strap. Carried in holster (.2).
