Starr"; iron reverse P hilt with quillon terminating in disc, knuckle bow pierced for sword knot near stylized bird's head pommel, forward end of knuckle bow stamped "P", backstrap extends to ferrule at base of grip; wooden grip covered in leather. No scabbard

Waist belt: brown leather, believed cow, covered in snakeskin, with brass pattern 1851 U.S. eagle and silver wreath plate (.37a), brass hardware. Stitching on left side of belt indicates it was a sword belt.

One of a pair of socks, men's. Made of white wool; knit with a seam in the back. Each sock has the initial "M", in thread spun from red and white cotton, at the top. French toe. Each sock has different ribbing; this one has double welt (p2-k3-p2-double welt); the other one has 3 rows ribbing with welt underneath.

The fork consists of a wooden handle with two iron tines. It has no marks.

Single-shot percussion pistol; approx. .31 cal.; 8" part octogonal barrel; plain, rounded iron frame, walnut, bag shaped grip, trigger guard missing. "Stocking & Co. / Worcester", "Warranted / Cast-Steel", "N", "1".

Cup: Tin expanding cylinder with a protruding band just below the rim. Strap handle is soldered onto the cup (bottom portion now detached).

The comb is a double-sided finew toothed comb made of yellow poplar or similar type wood. Possibly a lice comb. Old state room sticker "47" adhered to one side.

Single breasted, 8 button front, cadet gray wool twill cloth with buff wool broadcloth facings, no piping, brown wool and silk lining in body, white cotton sheeting lining in sleeves; the remains of embroidered gold lieutenant colonel's insignia on collar, captains gold sleeve braid, Federal staff buttons with backmark: "STEELE &/JOHNSON"

Two-piece U.S. General Staff button with backmark, "EXTRA QUALITY." The button is attached to a piece of faded gray wool cloth attched to carboard with two newspaper articles.

Confederate cavalry saber: slightly curved single-edged blade with flat back and single unstopped fuller; remains of leather cushion; brass hilt of two branches and knuckle bow flowing from ovoid grip into pommel; wood grip covered in leather and single strand wire. Metal scabbard (.76a) with two suspension rings and drag.
