Letter from Major General Robert E. Rodes to Major General Edward Johnson, July 6, 1863 Physical Appearance: July 6, 186[3?] - R[obert] E[mmett] Rodes at H[ea]d Q[uarte]rs Division, to Maj[or] Gen[era]l Edward Johnson, Com[man]d[in]g Division - States that he only has three of his brigades with him, the other two off on detached service. Requests that Johnson leave one of his brigades there since the enemy is extending his lines. Signed, "R. E. Rodes" Maj[or] Gen[era]l. Marks: "J-3-3" upper right corner. Stamp: Blue ink at the bottom left corner, "Examined and calendared." <<<On reverse>>> Faint, illegible writing in pencil below embossement. Marks: "Metal Case 3 R 54" below center.

Major General Thomas Jonathan Jackson to Brigadier General Edward Johnson, April 25, 1862 Physical Appearance: April 25, 1862 - T[homas] J[onathan] Jackson at Swift Run Gap, [Virginia] to Brig[adier] Gen[era]l E[dward] Johnson - Reports that enemy troops are camped north of Harrisonburg, V[irgini]a. States that Johnson will have to rely on his own cavalry at this time. Signed "T. J. Jackson"

FORK -

The fork is silver-plated and has four tines. It is marked, "Rogers & Bros." The fork is also engraved, "Genl Edward Johnson."

Souvenir -

The souvenir consists of a lock of hair attached to a card labeled underneath the hair, "GENERAL EDWARD JOHNSON."
