[John] Echols, at Head Quarters, First Brigade, Rude's Hill, [Virginia], to Lieut[enant] Col[onel] S[cott] Ship[p], Commanding Corps of Cadets, [Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia] - Requests a report of operations from the Battle of New Market. Praises the conduct of Shipp's "noble boys." (Signed) Jno. Echols. A note is written at the bottom, "a copy / J. Stoddard Johnston / Sept. 22, 1896."
