Scope & Content Mrs. Bradley T. Johnson: Receipt for Delivery of Ordnance and Stores, June 3, 1861

Physical Appearance: June 3, 1861 - [Header] Dept. Harper's Ferry, Virginia - Receipt given to Mrs. Jane C. Johnson (Mrs. Bradley T. Johnson) for delivery of 500 rifles; 10,000 cartridges; and 3,500 caps. Signed, "G. M. Cochran," Master of Ordnance. 1 sheet. Two other documents are glued together with this one to form long sheet, which was originally framed when presented to the Museum. The first is [MS-19020428.23a] a May 28, 1861, invoice for ordance and ordnance stores, and the second is [MS-19020428.23b] a June 1, 1861 order from General Beauregard to delay a train from Winchester to Harper's Ferry, Virginia. Marks: "89" on reverse.

Archival History Originally framed with [MS-19020428.23a] and MS-19029428.23c] and placed in the Maryland Room; then filed in the MC 3 M-613d files. The invoice is listed as item #89 on page 196 of the 1905 CMLS Catalogue. Douglas S. Freeman refers to this receipt in his "Calendar of Confederate Papers," number Md-89, on page 222.
