Physical Appearance: June 23, 1862 - [Then Brigadier General] R[obert] F[rederick] Hoke at New Bern, [North Carolina], to "Dear Friend" [unidentified] - Acknowledges receipt of his letter the day before. Had thought he was still in Miss[ississippi?]. Tells of several officer vacancies within the regiment and opportunity to raise a company. Greatly desires him to come and serve within the unit. Notes that New Bern is quite deserted. Mentions an awful storm raging and needing a healthier horse. Wants him to see if a horse is available in Charlotte, [North Carolina]. Signed "R. F. Hoke" 2 pp.
