Physical Appearance: February 24, 1865 - H[enry] W[emyss] Fielden, at Head Q[uarte]rs Dep[artmen]t S[outh] Ca[rolina], G[eorgi]a, & Fl[orid]a, Huystree(?), S[outh] Ca[rolina], to Maj[or] J[ohn] F. Lay, A[djutant] & I[nspector] Gen[era]l - Sends instructions from Lieutenant General commanding [William J. Hardee] for Lay to go immediately to Florence, S[outh] C[arolina] and negotiate a transfer of U. S. POWS at that place to Wilmington. States that he will receive further instructions upon his arrival at Florence. Signed "H. W. Feilden" A[ssistant] A[djutant] G[eneral]. 1 page.
