"Notary's office of P. C. Nicholas, / Richmond, Va, December 13th 1865 / I. Cornelia E. C. Rives do solemnly swear, in the / presence of Almighty God, that I will hence forth faith-/fully support, protect and defend the Constitution / of the United States and the union of the states there/ under; and that I will in like manner abide by / and faithfully support all laws and proclamations, which have been made during the existing re / bellion with reference to emancipation of slaves. / So help me God. / Cornelia E. C . Rives / Subscribed and sworn before me, this thirteenth / day of December, 1865, in the city aforesaid. / P. C. Nicholas/ Notary public of the city of / Richmond, and county of Henries/ in the state of Virginia"
