William Booth Taliaferro Papers: Artillery Papers, 186[-] - 1865
Physical Appearance: This folder of the William Booth Taliaferro Papers contains two documents concerned with artillery units.
a) The first is an undated, unsigned "wish" list, "Wanted for 3- Pounder Parrott Guns of Co. 'A' S[outh] C[arolina] Siege Train now under marching orders." Items included on this wish list are rope traces, horses, bridles, fuze gauges, fuze cutters, and an ammunition chest.
b) The second is a "Report of Field Artillery, Commanding Officers, etc.," dated January 23, 1865. The two units listed on the report are Co. A, 1st S[outh] C[arolina] Artillery and Hunter(?) Light Artillery. The report is signed by S[amuel] Cordes Boylston, A[cting] A[ssistant] A[djutant] G[eneral], and Alfred Rhett, Col[onel] Com[man]d[in]g.
|Archival History||The list of items wanted for the 30-pounder Parrott guns of Co. A, South Carolina Siege Train Artillery, was formerly located in the MC 3 T-798 files and has a Freeman calendar number of T-30-12. The Report of Field Artillery Commanding Officers, etc. was formerly located in the MC 3 T-799 files and has a Freeman calendar number of T-21-2.|
