|Archival History||Son of Wade Hampton, Thomas Preston Hampton was born on November 26, 1843. He received his appointment as 1st Lieutenant and ADC to serve on his father's staff, December 12, 1862, to rank from November 8. He was wounded in the right arm at Jack's Shop. Thomas was mortally wounded in action at Burgess' Mill on October 27, 1864.|
