Johnson on procedures in Maryland and Pennsylvania, most notably to burn Chambersburg if the town does not pay $100,000 (U. S. currency). (Signed) J. A. Early, Lieutenant General. "(Official)" signed, "T. Rowland" Assistant Adjutant General. 2 pp. Label: "82" near upper left corner on 1st page. Marks: in red ink, "Record & Pension Office / 606940 / Jackson(?)." in black ink, "Official Copy / order to burn Chambersburg." A typed transcript is available in the folder.
