Physical Appearance: March 30, 1865 - General Joseph Eggleston Johnston at Smithfield, [North Carolina], to General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard - Informs him that Brigadier General Bradley T. Johnson's report of enemy raid, possibly under Stoneman, reaching Lenoir at 8 A. M. on the previous day. Requests Beauregard to instruct Johnson to go to Lenoir and direct action against raiding party. (Signed) J. E. Johnston.
