Physical Appearance: March 9, 1863 - Head Q[uarte]rs, Dist[rict] of Georgia, Savannah, General Orders, No. 21} Thanks the men at Fort McAllister for their successful defense from an attack by three turreted, iron-clad boats and three mortar boats. Describes the action that occurred on March 3 and last eight hours. Directs that the garrison at the Fort inscribe "Fort McAllister March 3d 1863" on their flags.
