Physical Appearance: January 11, 1862 - Thomas Jonathan Jackson at Head Quarters, Valley District, Unger's Store, Morgan County, Virginia, to Major Thomas G. Rhett, Assistant Adjutant General, Head Quarters Department of Northern Virginia - Reports on the enemy's surprise attack on Confederate forces at Hanging Rock Pass, 15 miles north of Romney, West Virginia. Signed, "T. J. Jackson" Maj[or] Gen[era]l, P[rovisional] A[rmy of the] C[onfederate] S[tates], C[omman]d[in]g. A blue label is attached to the cover sheet of the letter and reads, "Loaned by the / Southern Historical Society / 1897."
