Physical Appearance: August 19, 1864 - R[obert] E[dward] Lee, at H[ea]d Q[uarte]rs, Army [of] No[rthern] V[irgini]a, to Maj[or] Gen[era]l Wade Hampton, Com[man]d[in]g Cavalry - Expresses gratitude for the success of operations by the cavalry - especially W. H. F. Lee's operation on August 15, combined operations of W. H. F. Lee and Gary's operations on August 16, and Butler's "skillful execution" of Hampton's orders on August 18.
