Physical Appearance: October 25, 1863 - Francis [Wilkinson] Pickens at Edgewood, South Carolina, to Col[onel] [Samuel Bassett?] French - Comments on the memory of "Stonewall" [Lieutenant General Thomas Jonathan] Jackson. "I trust our common government, as soon as our independence is secured, will raise some monument worthy of his fame." Signed, "Fra. Pickens" Governor. 1 page. Marks: "[MS-890628]" at upper left corner. The letter is attached to a plain sheet of paper. A biographical sketch and lithographed image of Governor Pickens are attached to a second plain sheet of paper, also in the folder. [**Note that the letter remains in the V-6-1-1 box.]
