Physical Appearance: August 13, 1862 - Letter from Richard Stoddert Ewell at Head Quarters, 3rd Division, to the Hon. George Wythe Randolph, Secretary of War, [Richmond, Virginia] - Mentions rumors of a "possibility of failure in re-organizing the Maryland Regiment." Thinks this action may throw Colonel Bradley T. Johnson out of army service and recommends him for a more secure commission. Signed, "R. S. Ewell," Major General, Confederate States Army. 2 pp. with blank cover sheet attached. 1st page > Label: "75" near upper left corner. Reverse of blank sheet > Stamps: Rectangular, red ink, "Record & Pension Office / 1900 / War Department / May 2 / 603162." Marks: "No. 5" - "Ewell" - "12."
