Physical Appearance: The reminiscence is a bound, handwritten memoir by Lt. Col. William W. Blackford. The volume includes a roster of the 1st Conf. Engineers and a roster of Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart's staff. Theodore S. Garnett reviewed and corrected the Stuart staff roster in 1902.

Archival History William Willis Blackford served as Capt. and Engineer Officer on May 26, 1862, on Stuart's staff as EO on June 24, 1862. He was a Maj. and EO on February 19, 1864. Blackford was promoted to Lt. Col. in 1st Confederate Engineers on April 1, 1864.
