Physical Appearance: Two items: a) December 13, 1862 - Letter from R[obert] E[dward] Lee at H[ea]d Q[uarte]rs, [Army of Northern Virginia], to [Lieutenant] Gen[era]l [Thomas Jonathan Jackson] - Requests that Jackson send his ordnance officer, Major Bier, to Guiney's Depot immediately, to replenish ammunition for men and batteries. Signed, "R. E. Lee" Adds Postscript, noting the importance of replenishing ammunition that night, in order to be ready by daylight of the next morning. Signed, "R. E. L." 1 page. b) July 3, 1907 - "Brightside" - A statement by James Power Smith, then Jackson's Aide de Camp, regarding the delivery of this letter. Signed, "James Power Smith." 1 page.
