Physical Appearance: f.1) January 29, 65 - H[ea]d Q[uarte]rs Pro[vost] Guard, A[rmy of] N[orthern] V[irginia] - J. G. Wade to Col[onel] P. Whittle - Concerns charges against [Brigadier General] James Dearing for receiving stolen goods and buying soldier clothing without authority. States he will give the Colonel's note to the Major when he comes in. Signed "J. G. Wade" for Maj[or] H. B. Bridgeford, Pro[vost] Mar[shal].
f.2) Envelope: "No. 30. Confed. / Va room / Charges by Gpv. against James / Dearing - belonged to Col. P.B. / Whittle - Miss Mary C. Whitttle / his niece asked me to take / care of for her. Mrs Ellyson not / [receiving] it with his commissions."
