Document/composition written by J.R. Hunt.
Farming is in my opinion a very pleasant and useful branch of employment. If it were not for the farmer to till the soil we could not live, for by them we get our flour, (?), and everything which we want. As you ride through the country you see some very fine farms, while again, you see some that are grown up full of weeds, what is the cause of it? The answer is the first one you seen belonged to an industrious man while the latter to one who spends most of his time at the grog-shops taverns, race-tracks, of course nothing can be expected from such a person. While one is up in the morning feeding his stock, the other is laying in bed, in a few years the lazy man is found in the poor house, his wife left him and he became still worse, all caused by not attending to his business as he should.
P.S. This is the poorest composition I ever have written all caused by lazyness. J.R. Hunt
