Physical Appearance: March 26, 1896 - "Master Mason's Travelling Certificate" issued to Henry Heth by Benjamin R. French Lodge, No. 15, Grand Lodge Free And Ancient Masons, of the District of Columbia. Signed by J. H. Oliver, H. M. Schooley, John C. Ch[illegible]rn, and Wm A. Gatley. Witnessed by Wm. R. Singleton. Has two impressed seals: 1) Benjamin B. French Lodge Seal and 2) Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia Seal - includes "Memorandum" explaining Traveller's Certificate and blue leather pouch.
|Archival History||Formerly located in the MC 3 H-481d files. The Henry Heth Collection contains all the known correspondence and ephemera of Henry Heth (1825-1899), held in the Eleanor S. Brockenbrough Library. Holdings include Heth's 1861 commission and his 1862 and 1863 appointments. Wartime materials focus on reports for 1863-1864, including ones on Gettysburg, Falling Waters, Bristoe, and Burgess Mill; telegrams for May - September 1864. Heth's Appomattox parole and his 1868 pardon signed by President Andrew Johnson are also of interest.|
