Physical Appearance: January 4, 1863 - L[eonidas] Polk at Meridian, Miss[issippi], to Col[onel] Benjamin S. Ewell, A[ssistant] A[djutant] Gen[era]l - Requests copies of official papers relating to his department be sent to him. Asks for general and special orders, telegrams, letters, and sketches of regiment. Signed, "L. Polk" L[ieutenan]t Gen[era]l, Com[man]d[in]g. <> "Meridian, Miss. Jany 4th 1864. Lt. Genl Pol. Commanding. Requesting copies of official papers relating to this Depart. be sent to him. Papers and (illegible) send on 29th Jany 1864." Marks: "17" and "Office..." in pencil. A blue "C" is in top margin. 2 pp. on 1 sheet.

Note: Discrepancy in year (1863 or 1864?)
