Scope & Content Brigadier General Wade Hampton to Colonel Bradley T. Johnson, March 14, 1864

Physical Appearance: a) March 14, 1864 - Head Quarters Hampton's Division, Cavalry Corps, Army [of] Northern Virginia, Milford, [Virginia] - Letter from Wade Hampton, to "My dear Colonel" [Bradley T. Johnson] - Encloses an extract of his report on the recent operations around Richmond. States that he has spoken to the President and Secretary of War "in as strong tones as possible in your praise." Hopes he gets [the promotion] he has so long deserved. Signed "Wade Hampton" Major General. 1 page. Label: "81"near top margin of the letter. b) March 8, 1864 - Head Quarters Hampton's Division, Cavalry Corps, Army [of] Northern Virginia - "Extract from Official Report of Major General Wade Hampton of operations around Richmond at the time of the raid of Kilpatrick and Dahlgren" - Gives very high praises to Colonel Bradley T.
