Physical Appearance: February 4, 1918 - James P[ower] Smith at 2120 Stuart Avenue, Richmond, V[irgini]a, to Mrs. Cha[rle]s R. [Anne Bachman] Hyde, 229 Vine Street, Chattanooga, Tenn[essee] - Acknowledges receipt of her letter dated January 30th and in response, recounts Lieutenant General Thomas J. Jackson's character traits. Signed, "James P. Smith." 2 pp. Written on the reverse of a printed "Prayer at the Unveiling of the Virginia Monument at Gettysburg, June 8th, 1917," by the Rev. James Power Smith. The cover (envelope) for the letter (including postage and postmark cancellation) is also located in the envelope.
