Scope & Content Letter from Brigadier General Carnot Posey to Jane White Posey, June 27, 1863

Physical Appearance: June 27, 1863 - Carnot [Posey] at Camp , Franklin Co[unty] near Chambersburg, P[ennsylvani]a, to "My dear Wife" [Jane White Posey], Woodville, Mississippi - Informs her that the army is now in Pennsylvania. Comments on the fine condition of the army. Is confident over the army's progress in enemy territory. Advises her to continue to send his mail to Richmond. Signed, "Carnot" 1 page, glued to heavy matboard.

Note: An envelope is glued to the bottom margin of the letter and the matboard. It contains two blue-green Jefferson Davis five-cent stamps (cancelled with X's) and is addressed to - "Mrs. Carnot Posey / Woodville / Mississippi." <> "Miss...(illegible)," "Wall No. 13 M. C. 3. M-634C." Piece of paper glued to back: "Sterne's Book Store, Leading Dealer in Books, Fancy Goods." "Compliments of" (in pencil)
