Letter from John S. Mosby to Dr. Aristides Monteiro, February 19, 1895
Physical Appearance: Autographed letter signed from John S. Mosby to Dr. Aristides Monteiro, dated February 19, 1895, in San Francisco, written on Southern Pacific Company: Law Department letterhead. Mosby writes Dr. Monteiro complaining that the printer had "mutilated" his article on Sheridan, specifically about format errors like footnotes and quotation marks. Also lamenting that "the North has always given our command more credit for the damage done them than the South has." Mosby credits this to jealousy in the army. (See "Letters of J. S. Mosby," pp. 75-76.) 3 pp. Marks: "No. 35" in top margin on first page.
