Physical Appearance: The telegram (autographed note signed) is from Lee to Gen. P. G. T. Beauregard, dated June 16, 1864. Lee tells Beauregard that he does not know the exact position of Grant's army and also explains that, at the moment, he cannot afford to send Beauregard reinforcements from the north side of the James River.
