Physical Appearance: The letter is from Maj. Gen. Samuel Jones at Mobile, Alabama to AIG Samuel Cooper in Richmond, VA, dated April 20, 1862. Jones lengthily hammers his point of the importance of holding Mobile. Explains positioning of enemy and details issues of reduced supplies. 4 pp on 1 sheet. Marks: Made in pencil on bottom of last page: "As the mail is slow and uncertain I send by William (?) Johnsnston, ...yesterday by...signed S. Jones."
