Letter from John S. Mosby to Dr. Aristides Monteiro, March 25, 1890
Physical Appearance: In this autographed letter signed, dated March 25, 1890, John S. Mosby writes Dr. Aristides Monteiro a four-page letter from San Francisco. Written on Occidental Hotel, Montgomery Street, San Francisco letterhead. Mosby compliments the doctor on his reminiscences although Mosby corrects the number of men in the rangers as having been closer to 400 than 800. He ends the letter with a juicy bit of gossip about a former comrade. (See "Letters of Mosby, pp. 62-63). 4 pp. Marks: "Private" and "No. 7" in top margin; "M-644" in top right corner.
