Hoke at Head Quarters, 38th Reg[imen]t N[orth] C[arolina] Troops, Camp Gregg, near Guinea's [Station, Virginia], to Brig[adier] Gen[era]l W[illiam] D[orsey] Pender - Gives an account of the 38th North Carolina State Troops' participation in the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 2-3, 1863. Also gives names of wounded and killed in action. Signed, "Wm. J. Hoke" 4 pp on 1 sheet.
Note: Additional handwritten note provided in folder, 1 pp but separated into 2 sheets due to tearing and aging. Written on reverse and bottom portion of "Life Insurance Company of the City of New York, April" memo. Has the number "9" glued to note. Nothing written on top portion of note.
