Scrapbook compiled by E.W.R. Ewing concerning publications and promotion of his book "Northern Rebellion and Southern Secession".
Scrapbook is a bound volume with dark textured covered boards with dark red leather ears and spine and hinge covering. The volume is filled with blank pages. The first 35 pages contain correspondence regarding the publication, reviews, and reception of Ewing's book, "Northern Rebellion and Southern Secession". Letters date between 1902 and 1905. Pages 36 - 126 are blank. Pages 127 through 183 contain correspondence regarding the publication, reviews, and reception of Ewing's book, "Legal and Historical Status of the Dred Scott Decision". Loose is a certificate for E.W.R. Ewing as qualified and admitted as an Attonrey and Councellor of the United States Commerce Court, dated 11 October 1911. Pages 187 through 191 are newspaper clippings and correspondence regarding Ewing's "Hayes-Tilden Contest". A review of the work is loose between pages 192 and 193. The remaining pages are blank except for a letter affixed to page 216. A number of loose pieces of paper are in the back cover. They include the outline of a speech, report to the Board of Directors of the Manassass Battlefield Park regarding money owed Ewing, innumerable blank pieces of paper including Manassas Battlefield Confederate Park stationary with Ewing listed as President; and Department of the Interior, United States Reclamation Service letterhead.
