Physical Appearance: Two orders sent from Major General Edward Johnson to Brigadier General George H. Steuart and a newspaper reprint of Johnson's obituary:
CML-EJ.1a. June 4, 1863 - H[ea]d Q[uarte]rs, Johnson's Div[ision] - To Brig[adier] Gen[era]l [George H.] Steuart - Orders to "quietly prepare you brigade for moving," to have two days of rations fixed, and begin transportation of surplus articles. By order of Maj[or] Gen[era]l [Edward] Johnson. Signed "Henry Kyd Douglas" A[ssistant] A[djutant] G[eneral]. 1 pp. Marks: "Metal Case J - 36 / 3" at top. A CMLS seal is embossed over the right hand side of the paper.
CML-EJ.1b. [July 6, 1863?] - [No location] - E[dward] Johnson to Gen[era]l [George H. Steuart] - Orders for Steuart to move his command back and guard the road and reinforce General Rodes, who is pressed by enemy at the rear. Signed "E. Johnson" Maj[or] Gen[era]l. (written on scrap paper in pencil) Marks: "J - 36 Metal Case 3" at upper right corner. Stamp at the bottom reads, "Examined and calendared." A CMLS seal is embossed over the order. 1 pp.
CML-EJ.1c. [n. d., ca. February 1923] - Unidentified Richmond, Virginia, newspaper clipping - "Fifty Years Ago (1873)" - contains a reprint of Major General Edward Johnson's obituary. Glued onto scarp paper. 1 pp.
