Physical Appearance: [September 16, 1862] - "Facsimile" - T[homas] J[onathan] Jackson at Sharpsburg, [Maryland] to Miss Fairfield - Sends a brief, but gracious thank-you note to Miss Fairfield for sending him breakfast. T. J. Jackson. 1 page. Brittle condition. One piece of repair tape is located at the upper left corner. Marks: "M. C. 3 - J - 515 - C" written in pencil at the lower left corner. <<> Two long strips of repair tape have been placed along horizontal fold lines.
Archival History The "facsimile" note to Miss Fairfield was formerly located in the MC 3 J-516c files. Dr. Douglas S. Freeman listed it in his "Calendar of Confederate Papers," page 293, number Va-J.
