Physical Appearance: The letter is a typed copy of an original autographed letter signed dated November 27, 1845 from Lee to Miss Julia Gratiot. Lee was serving in the U. S. Army at Fort Hamilton, New York at the time; in this letter he graciously declines an invitation to Miss Gratiot's wedding.
