Physical Appearance: Negative photostat of March 24, 1865 - Brig[adier] Gen[era]l Geo[rge] H[ume] Steuart at Head Quarters, Pickett's Div[ision], to Col[onel] W[alter] H[erron] Taylor, A[ssistant] A[djutant] Gen[era]l, Army [of] N[orthern] V[irgini]a - Responds to circular, noting that execution date for Privates Galespie Yates and O. H. Wright of the 3rd Virginia Infantry has been set for March 30th. Also notes that execution date of April 1st has been set for Private Daniel L. Brown of the 7th Virginia Infantry.
|Archival History||The negative photostat letter from Brig. Gen. Steuart to Col. Taylor was formerly located in the MC 3 L-562 files. According to Soldiers & Sailors information (NPS website), Galespie Yates and Olon H. Wright served in the 30th Virginia Infantry; their names do not appear in Lee Wallace's "3rd Virginia Infantry" regimental history. Their names do appear in Robert K. Krick's "30th Virginia Infantry." Both Soldiers & Sailors - NPS and David F. Rigg's "7th Virginia Infantry" list a Daniel T. Brown.|
