Letter: Braxton Bragg to Sam Jones, February 12, 1862
Physical Appearance: February 12, 1862 - Head Quarters, Dep[artmen]t [of] Ala[bama] and W[est] Fl[orid]a, Mobile, [Alabama], to Gen[era]l Sam[uel] Jones, Com[man]d[in]g Army of Pensacola - Informs him of the great possibility of calling the 9th Mississippi from his command and sending it to Tennessee, at the President's wish. Gives directions for withdrawal from Deer Point, except for 2 companies and gunboats. Instructs to abandon that hospital and send the sick on to Pensacola. States he has reliable information that the enemy will attack Mobile soon. Mentions that he has heard from Gen[era]l A[lbert] S[idney] Johnston, who feels confident about holding Fort Donelson. Thinks the "disaster at Roanoke Island [North Carolina] is much more serious." Marked "Confidential."
