Scope & Content Brigadier General John Robert Jones to Captain Warner Throckmorton Taliaferro, December 22, 1862

Physical Appearance: December 22, 1862 - J[ohn] R[obert] Jones at H[ea]d Q[uarter]s Jones' Brigade, to Capt[ain] [Warner Throckmorton] Taliaferro, A[ssistant] A[djutant] G[eneral] - Sends 10 axes to Gen[era]l [William Booth] Talifaferro's headquarters as requested but under protest. States that regulations allow for 2 axes per every 15 men. Notes that Taliaferro's request leaves one axe for every 20 men and will not allow the men to keep themselves supplied with wood. Signed "J. R. Jones" Brig[adier] Gen[era]l. Marks: "Metal Case 3 J 56" and "J-23-2 (lined through)" at the top. <<>> Marks: "No. 23 / Case J" written in pencil.
