Archival History The receipt and accounts of purchases for Brig. Gen. Steuart's mess were formerly located in the MC 3 S-776 files. The receipt dated January 30, [1864] is listed in Douglas S. Freeman's "Calendar of Confederate Papers," number S-31-3, on page 405. The three accounts for his mess are listed together in Freeman's "Calendar," number S-21-4-6, on page 406.
